Hello and thank you for visiting my site! I’ve been thinking about starting an online blog for a long time now and I’ve finally made the big leap! Hopefully the things I write about and share will be entertaining and useful. A little bit about me:
My name is Joye and my site is about the “roads” I’ve taken to find true Joy in my life. I am a “30 something” career minded woman who was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. At 29, I became a Construction Superintendent for the company I was working for and went on the road full time. My first job was in Mobile, Alabama – I know you’re laughing. I spent all but 4 days out of the month there and it was quite the experience. Over the next 3 years or so, I worked/lived in 8 different cities in the south. During that time, my mom had become very sick and I made the decision that my gypsy days would soon be over and started having the conversations with management to post for a job that would bring me back to Buffalo. It was no easy decision to make and in the end it proved to be one most motivating decisions I would ever make. The company that I worked for, offered me a position at a lateral move and reduced my pay. It was a pretty low blow but at the time I just wanted to be home so I had I took it. It was probably one of the most dumbest decisions I ever made, but obviously one that needed to happen so I could further grow.
From that point on, my career advancement came to a grinding halt and so did my raises. I was left feeling bewildered and wondering who had I pissed off and what did I do wrong. To make things worse, I had come back to the land of snow and no sun 6 months out of the year. I had been spoiled working the Gulf Coast during the winter months. I knew I loved Buffalo and loved being from Buffalo, but I no longer felt as though I belonged there. I knew I deserved to be happy and I knew I wanted to be happy and I knew the only way that was going to start was through change. In my journey to find true happiness, I made probably the biggest decision of my entire life to leave my job and to leave Buffalo.
Lots have happened since then. I met the love of my life, gained an instant family, and have grown immensely in my career. I intend to blog about all kinds of things in hopes that the stuff I share will help someone, make someone laugh, or be useful. I was diagnosed with ADD and struggle with it daily, therefore, my posts may tend to be a little all over the place, hence the “scatter brained”. I hope that things I blog about will let someone know they are not alone in the struggle to simply be human.
Thank you again for visiting my page and I hope you enjoy my posts.
